To make a batch of Four 16 ounce green smoothies:

(This recipe will fill your blender to the brim.)

  • 3 c. boiling water

  • 1 heaping tablespoon of Poetic Tea’s organic, sweet pear green tea called “Elegy”

  • 1/2 c. lime juice

  • 1 c. ice

  • 1 cucumber

  • 2 Granny Smith apples

  • 1 x 12 ounce bag of pre-washed kale (fresh or frozen)

  • 1 x 5 ounce bag of pre-washed baby spinach (fresh or frozen)

  • 2 tablespoons of Stevia (or desired sweetener)

Here’s the scoop:

  • Pour boiling water that has cooled for a minute or two over the green tea leaves and brew for two to three minutes;

  • Add lime juice and strain tea into blender over ice;

  • Wash and chop fruit and veggies and add to blender;

  • Blend until smooth and add Stevia (or desired sweetener) and mix once more;

  • Divide smoothies into four large mason jars (you should have approximately 16 ounces in each one);

  • Drink immediately or tightly secure a lid and refrigerate.

*Pro Tip 1: If smoothie is too thick for personal preference, either add more tea, substitute more spinach for kale, or reduce the amount of greens altogether.

*Pro Tip 2: Smoothies are best fresh, but will last for several days in the refrigerator with a tight lid. Shake well before drinking a smoothie that has settled.

*Pro Tip 3: Reuse tea leaves by pouring three cups of boiling water over them and refrigerating to use for your next smoothie batch.
